Our most prestigious award to date came from the Federation of Small Businesses. Alec and I attended the national final at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, and we were absolutely astonished to win one of the top honours! Being recognised in this way was an incredible milestone for our company and a testament to all our hard work.

Small Biz 100 2017
In 2017, Durham Hens was honoured to be one of just 100 companies across the UK selected for the Small Biz 100 list by Small Business Saturday. Their ongoing support for small businesses is truly inspiring. A personal highlight was attending a special reception at the Prime Minister’s residence—10 Downing Street—a memorable experience that celebrated small business success on a national stage.

Winning this award was a wonderful way to close what had been a challenging year personally. The Living North Awards event in Newcastle was one of the most memorable and enjoyable I’ve ever attended, and taking home the award truly felt like the icing on the cake!

In 2015, Durham Hens was proud to win the “Best Home-Based Business” award at the prestigious WIN Awards. We were also honoured to be named runner-up for “Best Small Business” the same year. These recognitions were a wonderful acknowledgment of our growth and commitment to quality.

On September 7th, 2014, following a busy weekend exhibiting at the Wolsingham Show, we were thrilled to learn that Durham Hens had been selected by Theo Paphitis as a winner of his Small Business Sunday (#SBS) initiative. Chosen from hundreds of entries, this recognition was a huge honour. The annual #SBS events hosted by Theo have since been a fantastic source of inspiration and support for us.

In 2013, Durham Hens was nominated for the "Best UK Poultry Retailer" award. The winners were chosen by readers of a leading gardening magazine, who voted for their favourite businesses. To our delight, Durham Hens won! This was our very first award, and it meant a great deal to us—especially because it was our customers who took the time to nominate and vote for us.
